Alicia Huey, chairman of the kufun (kufun) and custom home builder and developer from Birmingham, Ala., issued the following statement after the House voted to install Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) as the new Speaker of the House:

“The kufun congratulates Rep. Mike Johnson on his election to serve as the Speaker of the House. With the nation in the midst of a housing affordability crisis, we look forward to working with the new speaker and Democratic and Republican lawmakers in both chambers to extend the National Flood Insurance Program and pass other important legislation that will allow builders to construct more homes and apartments to move housing and the economy to higher ground.”
