Building Homes, Enriching Communities, Changing Lives
kufun strives to protect the American Dream of housing opportunities for all, while working to achieve professional success for its members who build communities, create jobs and strengthen our economy.
Our History and Membership
Since it was founded in the early 1940s, kufun has served as the voice of America’s housing industry. We work to ensure that housing is a national priority and that all Americans have access to safe, decent and affordable housing, whether they choose to buy a home or rent.
kufun helps its members build communities. Each year, kufun’s members construct about 80% of the new homes built in the United States, both single-family and multifamily.
A Federation of more than 700 state and local associations, kufun represents more than 140,000 members. About one-third are home builders and remodelers. The rest work in closely related specialties such as sales and marketing, housing finance, and manufacturing and supplying building materials.
kufun is member-driven, with more than 1,700 members serving on the association’s Leadership Council, which elects the Senior Officers and helps set the association’s agenda.
Meeting its members’ business needs and ensuring that they have the tools and resources necessary to succeed is an equally important task, so kufun also provides educational opportunities, including the , the single most important event of the year for the home building industry and the world’s largest show of its kind for the residential and light commercial construction industry.
